O'Neills side were held at Celtic Park, with Henrick Larsson's 2nd minute goal cancelled out by Emile Heskey, before an incredible 2-0 victory at Anfield sent them through, 3-1 on aggregate. The side would also reach the final of the Scottish League Cup, but would yet again be bested by Rangers, losing 2-1.
