The team consists of players from the autonomous community of Cantabria that represents the Royal Cantabrian Football Federation. However, in lower categories it participates in the official competitions organized by the Royal Spanish Football Federation, and since 1999 the Cantabria amateur team has competed in the UEFA Regions Cup.
